GA - Welcome hoops fans to another edition of "Meet the Playa". I'm your host, Greg Anthony, and with us today is the always colorful and controversial Mr. Austin T. Penneypincher. Welcome back to the show Mr. Pennypincher.
AP - Thank you son. It's a pleasure to be here.
GA - You are the agent to two of the leagues superstars, The Machine and Hurricane. In the off-season, Hurricane had a chance to join The Machine on And1 but decided not to. Did you have any influence in that decision?
AP - I treat my clients just like they were my children. I give them advice but in the end, the decision is all theirs. I only want what's best for my boys. With Hurricane, he was about the only rooster in the hen house if you know what I mean.
GA - Um....yea. So what was your advice to Hurricane?
AP - I told him that he was a star. He needed to go to a team where he could shine. If he was happy sharing the spotlight with The Machine and possibly win a Championship, he should go to And1. If he wanted to shine on his own and possibly win a Championship, he should sign with Puma. If he was happy where he was, he should re-sign with Converse. He chose Puma and I stand behind that decision.
GA - I noticed that Hurricane only signed a one year deal. Was that your doing?
AP - Yes. Just in case things don't work out with Puma, it's an "out" as we call it in the business. If Hurricane is happy with Puma he can re-sign with them. If not, i'm sure that he won't have any trouble signing elsewhere.
GA - Have you been happy with how your clients have performed so far?
AP - Both of my boys have done very well. Hurricane has lead his team in scoring as well as putting up some monster numbers. The boy is just so complete it's scary.
The Machine has been an absolute beast. He's been MVP in three of the six games he played in so far. Right now he's hotter than a pitchfork in Hades! I'm happy with both of my boys.
GA - Both Hurricane and The Machine are already considered to be league MVP candidates. Would you agree?
AP - Why h*ll yes, son! Look at the numbers that they are putting up. They are both great players on great teams. Both should be starting in the All-Star game. What more do you want?
GA - Relax Mr. Pennypincher. I just wanted your opinion.
AP - Don't ask me any more d*mn fool questions like that again son.
GA - Um....yes sir. Before we go, do you have an opinion on who's going to win it all this year?
AP - I wish I could say with certainty that it would be one of my boy's teams. And1 and Puma are both very good squads but they will likely have to face that Nike team in the finals. One of those three teams will win it but h*ll if I know who it's gonna be.
GA - That's all the time we have for today. Thanks to Mr. Pennypincher for coming on our show. We wish you and your clients the best of luck.
AP - Much obliged son, Much obliged.
