RR - Reebok Reporter
CM - Coach Myers
RR: Hey we had a chance to catch up with the coach of Reebok after some moves, Coach Myers thanks for taking time to speak to me.
CM: No problem.
RR: Coach Myers, coming into last season you didn't have a job, what brought on the desire to coach?
CM: Well good question, I was sitting back last season as an advisor to players and I was thinking to myself, "Well if I can give such good advise to players, then I'm sure I could do the same with a team." and I decided to throw my name out as being interested in coaching a team.
RR: How did you land the job with Nike?
CM: Well Reebok was doing average last season when they had huge expetations so the owner got tired of that coach and he fired him then I contacted him about the opening and he gave me the job.
RR: Alot of the teams do alot of trading and was active in the free agent market, you wasn't, what makes you think your a contender?
CM: Well I didn't make alot of moves because I knew I had some quality talent as it was, I did contact Hurricane about joining us but he refused to join us, and I acquired Masterlock in the draft, who I think will be huge for us even though he's playing out of position. He goes along with Spyda and The Professor.
RR: You finally made your first trade today, sending PF Jazz and 2008 1st Round Pick to Nike in exchange for PF Alpha Male and PF Elevate. What do you think that trade does for your team?
CM: I like this deal because it gives his quality depth at the Center/Power Forward/and Small Forward positions. We lose the potential Defensive Player of The Year but we gain an up-and-coming great player in Alpha Male. The way I plan my team is like this, splitting minutes at Center with T-Grady and Elevate, starting Alpha Male at Power Foward, starting Masterlock at Small Forward, starting The Professor at Shooting Guard, and starting Spyda at Point Guard.
RR: Is there anyone right now that you would look to acquire?
CM: We'd probably be interested in acquiring a better Center. After that I don't think we'd do anymore acquiring because I feel the team is pretty set and I'm comfortable with who we have at each position besides Center.
RR: Is there any Centers that you got on your radar?
CM: A few that I won't let out of the bag yet incase any other Coaches are listening to this interview.
RR: Ok that's all the time we got, thanks for your time Coach Myers.
CM: No problem, I'll speak to you anytime you need me.
