MHH - Michael "Hurricane" Henson
GA - Greg Anthony
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
GA - Welcome to another edition of "Meet the Playa". I'm your host, Greg Anthony, and with me here today is one of the leagues stars and now the newest member of the Puma team, Michael Hurricane Henson. Hurricane, welcome back to the show.
MHH - Thanks Greg. It's always a pleasure.
GA - It looks like you have shocked some people with your decision to join Puma.
MHH - I guess. I have been contacted by a couple of people who were surprised with my decision. In the end, I had to do what was best for me.
GA - Why did you choose Puma over And1 and Converse?
MHH - It was a tough choice. It would have been nice to play with my best friend, The Machine on And1 but I really didn't want to take anything away from him. I think that we would have fought over the ball too much and I wanted to avoid that.
GA - And Converse?
MHH - It was hard to not re-sign with Converse. They gave me my shot to really make it in this league. It's just that I don't see them being that competitive. They are a young team and as much as I want to contribute, I want to win more.
GA - Ahh..the truth comes out. You want a shot at winning it all don't you?
MHH - Of course I do. Who doesn't? Puma has a chance to win it all and I wanted to be part of that. I don't see a long playoff run for Converse.....yet.
GA - You signed a one year deal with Puma. Why only one year?
MHH - I wanted to see how I will fit with the team. You never know what will happen annd I like being in control of my own destiny.
GA - Is a return to Converse a possibility?
MHH - I won't say yes but if Converse progresses this year I would love to rejoin them.
GA - Since you were late in signing, you were not in any preseason games. Do you think that this will hurt your game at all?
MHH - No. I have been working out all off-season and I feel great. I am really looking forward to this upcoming season.
GA - You will be coming in as Puma's number one scoring option. What is the pressure associated with that?
MHH - There is a certein pressure to come right in and score a bunch of points but that's not my whole game. I have been working on my rebounding and passing so that I can contribute in ways other than scoring.
GA - You will be moving back from SG to SF. Are you looking forward to that?
MHH - I'm not too concerned with where I play as long as I play. I was asked if I would consider playing some at PF. I said that I was willing to give it a shot. It should be a fun season.
GA - It sounds like you are enjoying yourself. Well, we're out of time and I would like to thank our guest, Hurricane, for joining us this evening and wish him luck in the upcoming season.
MHH - Thanks. I love being on the show.
