MM - MMisk
GA - Greg Anthony
---------------------------------------------------------------------
GA - Hello and welcome to a special edition of "Meet the Playa". I'm your host Greg Anthony and with me here today is our special guest, mmisk, who has just been named the new GM of the And1 team. Welcome MMisk.
MM - Thanks Greg, good to be here.
GA - So When did you find out that you were going to be the new And1 GM?
MM - I was contacted Yesterday (Saturday) afternoon with a meesage that the commisioner wanted to speak with me. I talked with him late last night and was offered the job.
GA - Was this the first that you'd heard of it?
MM - Absolutely. I had no idea that Nate was going to step down. He was doing a great job and I was kinda shocked as were a lot of other players and GM's.
GA - Did Nate say why he was stepping down?
MM - Yes. He said that he wanted to concentrate on working with Starbury and his newest player, Q-York.
GA - Now you step in and instantly changes start to happen. You trade away Speedy and then Splashdown retires. Are we going to see any more changes?
MM - I don't know yet. I traded Speedy thinking that we had our starting five and that we really needed a quality big man to back up Hulk and Machine. We get that with Money A. I am a little shocked and a little unhappy that Splashdown retired. He was a very good starter and was an important part of the team. He will be missed.
GA - There are rumors that with your close ties to Hurricane, that he might be coming to And1. Landing the most coveted free agent this off-season would be nice wouldn't it?
MM - It would be nice to sign Hurricane but he has said that he will do what is best for him. Hurricane hasn't decided what he wants to do and right now I don't know what will happen.
GA - If you don't get Hurricane, what will your plans be?
MM - The draft is coming up and there are several good free agents. We still have a great starting 4 with Hulk, Machine, Starbury, and Iggy Slam. We have Money A as our back up big man. Now I need a couiple of SG/SF types and a back up PG and I think we will be just fine.
GA - Have you figured out who you will draft yet?
MM - Not yet. I just took over last night so I haven't had a chance to make up a draft board yet. I've mentioned what our team needs are so that will have a big impact on who we draft.
GA - What are you expecting from this And1 team for the upcoming season?
MM - Hopefully a Championship. We have a very good core. Our front court of Hulk and The Machine is as good as any in the league. Starbury is an MVP candidate and Iggy is already good and rapidly improving. We are just a few pieces away from being complete.
GA - Might Hurricane be one of those pieces?
MM - He might. Like I said before, that decision hasn't been made yet.
GA - Well, there you have it folks. We thank MMisk for his time today and look forward to seeing the new And1 team take the floor. Best of luck to you and you team.
MM - Thanks, Greg
