AL: Welcome to another interview with me, Alexander Love! Today we have Julius North, Head Coach of the #1 Team in CSSL, the Nike Street Team!
JN: Glad to be here Mr. Love, I'm glad I took some time off.
AL: Well first off I want to ask you, who is he leader of this team?
JN: Well I would say the "team" is the leader of this team.
AL: How do you figure that Mr. North?
JN: Well every player on this team is an important piece of our puzzle. First we have Hot Shot, starting SG, who has been great with handling the ball and shooting. We also have Show Stoppa, who was the CSSL Summer League All Star Game MVP, and The Choker, biggest steal in the CSSL Draft. They both have been doing great for this team with their all around performance! Bonafide and Hurricane are both the other two starters, who both have great talent but just don't get the ball as much as the other three. But without Hurricane's defense and Bonafide's great all around game, we wouldn't have been as successful. Also on our bench we have Ace and Money A., who do not start, but are good enough to start if they wanted to. But as Head Coach I felt that I needed two great players off the bench who can keep the speed going and these two are it. Money A. has been great, getting double-doubles as the backup PF and Ace has been great in clutch situations. We also had Sniper, who we drafted but cut because we went over the cap. But he was a great shooter, a rare one, that I did not want to give up. But I felt that he can join a team with more playing time for him. And I wish him the best. But honesty, this team is great becasue we are all treated as equal. We don't have a Superstar, just a bunch of stars. We are only as good as our weakest player, which we don't have a "weakest" player.
AL: How do you feel going 6-0 at the start of the season?
JN: It has been a great accomplishment. I know there's been TONS of moments where I thought we would lose, because there are great teams that we have beaten. But I think all the credit goes to our staff, who spends all day preparing and getting our players ready before each game. I think they are the key to our success.
AL: Well it seems that you lead the All Star Game North Coach with 10 votes. How do you feel about coaching in the First CSSL All Star Game?
JN: Well I feel really honored, because it seems that people are reconizing the hard work that the whole Coaching Staff has been doing. But the All Star Game is just a bunch of great players doing what they love to do.
AL: After going undefeated heading into Week 7, how do you feel about losing to AND1? A Team that you beat first at the start of the season.
JN: Well it has bound to happen, no team can go undefeated in this great league, there's too many stars out there. But I have to say I was a little dissappointed because our team didn't play as hard as the other games. But I guess that was from all the hype of trying to go undefeated. That Starbury had a great game scoring what was it? 49 Points? I mean I think we had a few chances to comeback, but not enough will power to make it a close game. But now that all the hype of going undefeated is gone, my players can focus on games easier.
