This is the inside story of puma during season 5, and thier epic title run. Includes real and fictional interviews, not all real interviews are written verbatim, rather written to entertain.
It was a bitter site. After getting toasted by Reebok in game 1 of the southern conference finals, afrothunder was not a happy guy. He just completed a light run around the local park and had one thing on his mind, tonight's game against Reebok. Usually he runs 5-6 miles but he wanted fresh legs agains't Reebok. Game 1 had come down to a last second shot by Flash, but Reebok owned the floor that night. As a team puma shot just 41%, not good enough to win playoff games. just a few big plays down the stretch kept puma in the game. In the closing minutes afro thunder was esatic, "if puma could win after playing this bad, this team could really be special" he thought. Back-to-back 3s by spike and afro put puma on top by 4 with 40 seconds to go 126-122. A floater by A&W with 35 seconds left on the clock cut the gap. On the other side silk was instantly fouled. His first free-throw shot looked perfect, but to silk's dismay danced around the rim and popped out. Stunned, Silk calmly drained his next to put puma up by 3, 127-124. Reebok looked to its MVP to deliver. Fortunatly for reebok, they had 3 MVPs and all would live up to its name in the closing seconds. Chocker brought the ball up the court in a hurry, and chucked up a 3. It drew iron, but machine was there for a huge board. One pump fake and Slam! That .2 second dunk seemed to last for an hour. Reebok wasn't gonna foul puma, with 30 tics left on the clock. No one picked up silk as he slowly brought the ball up court. Chocker was there at half-court, 25 seconds left. SILK swings it afro thunder! Pump fakes, Drives passes up a shot! comes back out, 19 seconds left.... afro tosses it to alpha male, 17 seconds left.... alpha male, wide open for three, passes up the shot... 16 seconds left, skip passes back to silk, 13 seconds left.... silk passes to spike, open on the baseline. Spike holds the rock, bounces it to the top of the key to afro, 9 seconds left. AFRo drives dishes to silk, for the tough 2 pointer! Silk bricked the shot. Reebok still had a breath. They had more than a breath, they had flash ready to take the final shot. Reebok inbounded to flash, with tough defense from Afro and T-balla, Flash somehow got the shot off and put two points on the board. Reebok danced while Afro thunder sat on that park bench reliving the game in his head.
Silk approached afro dribbling a tennis ball down the sidewalk. "whats up man" afro said as he high-fived his teamate. "man we've got to get serious, this is it we may not get another chance at the title for a while" said afro grabbing the tennis ball from Salim. "yeah this is it for me, after this year, i'm gone" AFro nodded, everybody knew this was silk's last season with cssl. "we got to get serious, this is the last chance for Puma, Reebok is NOT that good" Afro didn't really believe his own words. To him playing Reebok puts you on a different level, emotionally and physically. Something about the way they play, just the swagger of machine and great wall as the walk on to the court. Plus the pressure of "puma's last chance" may have affected thier play. That was the last time salim and afro truely spoke to each other as friends.
