Its friday night, the stadium is packed with anxious fans, waiting for the tip-off. Then out of the tunnel ............... comes......... a Big cat? Yep, puma's famed mascot is a big cat who dances around, runs through the stands. Hes been doing this for 3 years. "hes pretty cool, i guess" says one long-time fan. Nike's mascot is an all-time favorite. A Big Waffle named "crispy". Way back in season 1 he would squirt syrup at the fans, but then someone filed a lawsuit, so the syrup spray was abandoned. the biggest thrill(regular season thrill) for nike fans comes during week 11 when they give out free-waffles, and Crispy fights with the And1 mascot "the terminator". The terminator looks nothing like Arnold, but rather a guy dressed in tin-foil with a gun. He reminisceinet ofthe nerds on "dude wheres my car". Anyway Who wins the the mascot fight? "usually the referees just break it up to keep the fans happy. says the Terminator. He also said the the fights were the best part of his job.
One classic moment in mascot history, was week 1 of season 2, when the adidas mascot "flip" (which is a big round basketball with legs and arms) kidnapped the puma mascot and hid him in the locker room for hours. Eventually the Big cat broke free and danced around in the stadium. Sometimes the mascots have problems. ...flip is a trouble maker, at least once a season, he'll run out in the middle of court during the game and completely stop the game for a few minutes. One time he did this during the an adidas-reebok game where the reebok mascot,"a dancing shoe"( a guy dressed as a shoe dancing) ran out on the court with flip and had a serious fight, not a fake one, it took 20 minutes to break those guys up. Everybody loves converse "shoe car". Fans call it the converse mobile.![]()
