Hey, I wrote out this thing, and decided hey, maybe I can get some points for it. Not really an article....but, hopefully you'll like it.
JAZZ AND FRESH SKILLZ MIDSEASON SCOUTING REPORTS
Jazz:
Games: 9
Minutes: 360 (40.00 per game)
Points: 230 (25.56 per game)
Rebounds: 131 (14.56 per game)
Assists: 13 (1.44 per game)
Steals: 5 (0.56 per game)
Blocks: 31 (3.44 per game)
Field Goals: 78/182 (42.8%)
3-Point FGs: 3/7 (42.9%)
Free Throws: 72/79 (91.1%)
True Shooting: 53.1%
Turnovers: 8 (0.89 per game)
Fouls: 21 (2.33 per game)
Ast/To: 1.63
NOTES: Jazz has had an interesting year. He's built like a power forward, but he spent some time at center, and now is trying to find his niche at small forward. After working on inside scoring, rebounding, and defense in the past, Jazz has finally turned to the little guy things like ballhandling and 3-point shooting. Because of this tough transition, his numbers have fallen off from last season. He's kept his scoring and rebounding pretty high, but his blocks have dropped, and his shooting percentage has taken a huge plunge, going from excellent last season to about average this year. Still, he's done pretty well for Nike this year, trying to fit in wherever he can, and already having won 4 MVP awards through the first 9 games. Though his stats have dropped off a little, he's still good on offense, and his awesome defense (last season's DPOY, which doesn't show up in the stats) keeps him a darn good player.
Fresh Skillz:
Games: 9
Minutes: 349 (38.78 per game)
Points: 194 (21.56 per game)
Assists: 122 (13.56 per game)
Rebounds: 28 (4.22 per game)
Steals: 13 (1.44 per game)
Blocks: 0 (0.00 per game)
Field Goals: 76/149 (51.0%)
3-Point FGs: 16/30 (53.3%)
Free Throws: 26/27 (96.3%)
True Shooting: 60.3%
Turnovers: 14 (1.56 per game)
Fouls: 17 (1.89 per game)
Ast/To: 8.71
NOTES: Skillz was dealt to AND1 in the offseason. He came into the league as a SG, switched for a while to SF, and for the first time this season played PG. He's done pretty nicely in his new role. Though not putting up huge scoring numbers, if you look closely, you'll see he's the model of efficiency. He's putting up a ton of assists, especially considering his few turnovers. He's shooting the ball very well from all over, putting up an incredible TS%. And although he strangely is getting a lot of steals this season, his perimeter defense is still among the tops in the league. His glamour stats, like points and rebounds per game, are okay, but his defense, passing, and efficient scoring have made Fresh a very good player.
