Free agency hasn't started yet and already there is a buzz in the league about one players future in particular. That player is none other than Michael "Hurricane" Henson. He has a player option in his contract and has a tough decision ahead of him. As the most coveted free agent of the off-season, he has received interest from several teams. He has narrowed it down to three options.
Option number one is to stay where he is. The Converse GM has asked Hurricane to stay and reminded him of his value to the team. He was one of if not the best player in the last third of the season and the playoffs. He feels some loyalty to Converse as they gave him his shot as a scoring option and let him show the league just what he could do. Converse also should have the strongest draft with the #1 pick and 4 picks in all.
Hurricane was fairly happy with Converse but isn't sure that the team will be very competitive. His main goal is to win a Championship. Nike looks to be back mostly intact and Converse will not be at their level next year even with a great draft.
The second option for Hurricane is to join the runners-up in the Finals, Puma. They are very interested in getting him and have already made a contract offer. Hurricane would be a great addition to an already great team as their performance this past season showed.
The downside with Puma is their front court. That was never their strong point and now is the news that Tractor will be retiring. They are already looking for a replacement big man but it is a question mark for sure.
The third and final option is to sign with And1. They have shown a lot of interest in Hurricane and he could be the scorere that puts them over the top. And1 s a very strong team and Hurricane would also get to play with his friend The Machine.
The downside with And1 is that Hurricane would steal some of the spotlight from his friend, The Machine, and possibly keep him from becoming a scoring option. And1 also lacks any front court depth and that hurt them during the regular season and playoffs.
So there you have it. It's a tough decision for sure as there are pros and cons in every choice. Hurricane isn't worried about the money aspect of the contracts so that is at least one thing removed from the equation. In the end he has to make a choice. Which one should it be?
