3v3 contest Round 1
Day one of the All-Star Weekend was kicked off with the much anticipated 3v3 contest. Round one went pretty much as anticipated, with the Misfits handling their opponent, the Street Bangers. The Choker led the way with 41 points while being supported by all-around efforts from Starbury and The Machine. Alpha Male put up 31 points in a losing cause. Final: 123 to 94.
Game 2 pitted the Mad Dogs vs the Ballas. This was by far one of the highlights of day one, with the Mad Dogs winning in overtime by one point, no less. Show Stoppa reigned supreme with 56 points and 30 rebounds. Unfortunately for him the Mad Dogs squeaked by. Final: 140 to 139.
Game 3 showcased the Rim Bangers and Phi Slamma Jamma. Hurricane, The Professor, and T-Grady advance with the Rim Bangers winning 120 to 112.
Game 4 of round 1 was an enigma of sorts. The Puma All-Stars led by Afro Thunder took on The People's Champions. Splashdown scored a game high 57, but fouled out with 6 minutes to play. Much like the rest of his teammates who had fouled out earlier. It seems that the deficit must have been too great for Puma to overcome, with the Champs winning 116 to 104.
3 point competition
With the conclusion of the first round of the 3v3 contest, the festivities continued with a showcase of the greatest shooters from the CSSL's inaugural season. Round 1 saw Rip shine for team Puma as the small forward drained 21 from down town. Fresh Skillz advanced with 19. The Professor and Flash brought up the rear with 16 and 15 respectively.
The Semi-Finals were a different story. Fresh Skillz and Rip who shined in the opening round, seemed to lose their strokes. The Professor scored a round high 17 three's as Flash followed right behind with 16.
It seems that The Professor couldn't keep his sharpshooting from Round 2, finding his mark on only 12 shots. Flash kept his consistent shooting up, winning the CSSL's first 3-point contest. Congratulations to Flash!

3v3 Contest Round 2
As Flash cut down the nets at one end of the court, the teams who advanced to round 2 of the 3v3 competition took the court. Game 1 saw the Mad Dogs against the heavily-favored Misfits. Fresh Skillz, Mad D, and Bonafide were psyched to be there. But not as much as the Choker, Starbury, and the Machine as the Misfits steamrolled to a 123 to 88 victory.
Game 2 saw the Rim Bangers led by their captain, Hurricane facing off against Splashdown and The People’s Champs. The People’s Champs managed to stay in the game this round pulling off a 110 to 107 victory. Splashdown put his scoring skills to show as he came away with a game-high 48.
The Finals should be interesting as the dominating Misfits take on the darkhorse People’s Champs.
Slam Dunk Competition
Ending the day with a bang would be the CSSL’s much-anticipated Slam Dunk contest. The early favorite, Show Stoppa did not disappoint. The 7’6 center gracefully pulled off a 360 to impress the judges in Round 1 with a score of 94.8. Out of nowhere was the surprise of Smooth Jr. Who looked to steal Show Stoppa’s thunder. Smooth spun with a nifty 360 but one-upped with a windmill to finish off a monster slam, as the ooh’s and aah’s poured in from the crowd, the judges held up a score of 96.8. Tops for the opening round. Other Round 1 scores: Spyda (92.8), G.G. Greens (90.9), JA (87.3), Hulk (80.9), The Machine (80.2), and J Wall (78.5).
The Machine connects on his rather unspectacular Round 1 dunk
Nevertheless, only 3 participants could move onto the competition’s final round. As the amazing G.G. Greens narrowly missing the cut. Fan-favorite Show Stoppa connected for a score of 85.9, while Spyda followed with 87.9. Just when the crowd thought they had seen it all, Smooth stole the show again, determined to take away top dunking honors. The bench player from team Puma dropped jaws as he drove a Honda Civic onto the court. All or nothing it seemed, as the small forward seemed to soar over the tricked out auto, switching hands in mid-air before delivering the ball through the basket with a forceful jam. Congrats to Smooth Jr. on his out of nowhere victory scoring 95.6 in the Finals.
