Point Guard
On the ballot: Afro Thunder (Puma), Starbury (AND1), Spyda (Reebok)
We'll start it off with possibly the most difficult choice--Afro Thunder or Starbury. Both have been incredible this season, with some of the best offense in the league and very nice defense. They share the league record for assists in a game with 21 and score in bunches. In Week 7, both of them were named game MVPs, and everyone was looking forward to a fantastic Week 8 showdown. However, after scoring 40+ points a piece (Starbury was one shy of the scoring record of 50 points set by The Professor, and Thunder had a triple double, grabbing 17 boards), they both played poorly in Week 8. It's really a coin toss between these two, but one of them has to start. If it means anything, Thunder's team has won both of their matchups, although the two teams are currently tied for first place at 5-3 a piece. Spyda has been a very good player, too, also been named MVP, but not quite at those two's level.
Shooting Guard
On the ballot: Silk (Puma), Iggy Slam (AND1), The Professor (Reebok)
Unlike point guard, this one's a no brainer. Silk is the easy choice here. Similar to the top point guards, he's a fantastic scorer and passer. However, though he gets a lot of steals, he's a pretty weak defender overall. Still, the positives more than make up for the negatives. Battling for the backup spot are Iggy Slam and The Professor. Slam is a very good all-around player, who can score, rebound, pass, dribble, and play nice defense. The Professor, on the other hand, is mostly a scorer, and is best known as being the only player with 50 points in a game so far. Which one of those two should make the all-star game? Take your pick, either one would be a fine choice.
Small Forward
On the ballot: Rip (Puma), Splashdown (AND1)
Splashdown is the best small forward in either league. He's an amazing scorer who can do other things well, too. Semi-athletic, nice ballhandler and passer, very nice overall defense. Kinda' like, well, a Rich Man's Mitch Richmond, with better defense and scoring. Rip is a nice player, but nothing spectacular. Good for a backup on the all-star squad.
Power Forward
On the ballot: Tractor (Puma), Hulk (AND1), Jazz (Reebok)
Now we come to the most interesting of all choices. We've got three players who all definitely deserve an All-Star selection. Who do we choose? Well, the starting nod will probably go to The Hulk, who was the first player selected in the draft and is a dominant offensive force inside who can block shots and grab rebounds, while being amazingly athletic. He's been one of the top offensive players in the league this year. However, what Tractor and Jazz have over him is defense. Jazz was rated as one of the worst 5 picks at the beginning of the season, and has worked very hard to disprove that. He's now one of the frontrunners for defensive player of the year while also scoring in bunches the last few games. But let's not forget Tractor, who was named MVP in Week 8's game against AND1. He's a different type of player than the other two, with less quickness and perimeter defense, but big, strong, and an intimidating presence on offense and defense on the inside. All three of these players deserve to make it in, but only two can. Quick NBA comparisons (not exact, just to give you an idea): Hulk-Wilt Chamberlain. Jazz-Hakeem Olajuwon. Tractor-Shaquille O'neal. You decide.
Center
On the ballot: Mad D (AND1), T-Grady (Reebok)
There's not as big a difference between these two as most think. Both solid scorers, rebounders, and defenders--any team would be happy to have them. It's a toss-up as to who gets to start, but both should make the team.
